Tango Therapy provides people with PD an evidence based approach to increasing their quality of life through structured sessions at regular intervals.
In the past, patients with Parkinson's Disease were administered physical exercise such as walking, but studies carried out by the Department of Physical Therapy at Washington University in Canada suggests that the coordination in tango proves more effective than any other form of exercise.
Tango Therapy is an evidence based approach that has been scientifically studied over the last 10+ years. Some people have seen or felt the difference after just one session but evidence proves a better result over 6-10 weeks of regular weekly sessions.
Since 2013 Drew has been studying Tango Therapy and formed the company Tango Therapy Scotland in 2015. This is an evidence based approach to help people who experience problems with their motor skills, such as Parkinsons Disease. Inspired and supported by Dr Madeleine Hackney, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of General and Geriatric Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
